STEP ONE
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. [Note: Your home address is not required!]
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.
STEP TWO
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
I semi-stole the format from
nuvolaluz~ I'm posting this now since I've noticed that it's starting to go around again. Also, to everyone on my flist who does this: I'll do my utmost to try and fufill at least one of your wishes! I'm pretty broke this holiday season, but I'll do what I can!
I. Letters & postcards! I really love them. In all of my three years on lj, I've gotten one letter and one postcard from the people I've met on here, and I treasure them greatly! The different addresses and handwriting and personalites and just everything about them I adore!
II. I would die for some longish Pokemon or Sonic fanfiction. By longish, I mean a couple of thousand words. Not epics, but a nice read. Pairings I love are Paul/Dawn and Shadow/Rouge, though I won't complain about Gary/Dawn and Sonic/Amy.
III. Actually, fanfiction in general would be nice, as long as it's over one of my OTPs.
IV. I'd also love some fanart! Of Envy (Full Metal Alchemist) or Rikash (Tamora Pierce's Immortal quartet) or Shadow/Rouge or something from a fandom I really love. (FMA, Pokemon, Sonic, Kingdom Hearts, and a few others are on the top of my list right now. As long as I love the characters or pairings, it's good.)
V. Going back to the subject of mail-- if you have any old, used, and/or unwanted cookbooks, could you send them to me? I like the ones where the recipes have ingredients that you DON'T have to go to some special place to get it. I'm not too picky with food, and one of my hobbies is going over cookbooks, so~
VI. Tea. No, seriously. I'm addicted to the stuff, and the selection here is TERRIBLE. I use the bags, though I'm really interested in learning how to make it with just leaves/that sort of thing, so I'll be glad for that too. I prefer green tea, but herbal teas are good too. I do like the white tea I've tried, and some black teas.
VII. Fanfiction recommendations. If anyone knows of some very good and preferably long fanfictions about the pairings I like that I haven't read yet, I'd love to know about it!
VIII. A GameCube memory card that won't corrupt on me!
And while we're at it, a copy of Super Mario Sunshine would be nice too... XDIX. Handmade things! Like scarves and stuffed animals and things like that. I love handmade things, and could just stare in envy all day.
X. Whatever you want to make/give me, really. In the end, I'm just really happy when people make/get me something, no matter what it is or how much I wanted it. That's one of the reasons I really love Christmas-- the thoughts and feelings people put into it when they make/give things for/to other people.
If any of my friends want to send me something, I'll give you my address through a pm. ^^ That was actually kind of hard, because I didn't want to put anything that cost a lot of money, if anything... I mean, I'd feel guilty if any of you spent too much money on me. ^^;; Finally,
PLEASE, PLEASE, MAKE YOUR OWN LISTS! I really want to do something for everyone this year if I possibly can! Thank you!
